War of the Worlds

This evening my aunt and uncle took my cousins and me to War of the Worlds. My first thought was that it was a very different role for Tom Cruise. Usually he is the rich, cool guy, but in this one he is a workingman. It seems to have been awhile since a good alien invasion movie. A few things seemed to not be consistent, but overall a good watch. It is kind of similar to Signs in cinematography. It also has got me interested in the original radio show. I am hoping to find a recording of it or something.

Vegas Wedding

So many of you are probably wondering what has happened to me for the last month. Well, Jenny got back from Europe and I have been pretty busy, and trying to hang out with her as much as possible. This last weekend though, I went to Las Vegas and got married.
Actually, that is not true at all. Well, I did go to Vegas, but I didn’t get married, Jenny’s brother Jeff did. But every time I told people I was going to Vegas, I got a look. So, I guess I just wanted to tell everyone what they wanted to hear.
Anyways, the whole trip was a lot of fun. I flew out Wednesday morning and got back Sunday afternoon. The early part of the week we just explored the Strip and looked at all the cool hotels. There was wedding planning stuff here and there that people had to do, but there was also a lot of free time. We stayed in Bally’s. It is right in the middle of the Strip, so everything was very accessible. Out my window I could see the Eiffel Tower at Paris and across the street was the fountain at the Bellagio (remember Ocean’s Eleven). That was one of the coolest things. Every fifteen minutes, or so, there would be a fountain show to a different song. It was so amazing to watch, especially at night. I also rode the roller coaster at New York New York, snuck to the top of the Luxor, and took a romantic ride in the Gondola’s at the Venetian.
The wedding was at the top of the Stratosphere, the Space Needle like hotel/casino. Everything went pretty smoothly, and it was a really fun wedding. There was even an Elvis to sing a couple songs at the end. From there we took the "party bus" to the Wynn hotel, where they had rented an incredibly nice suite for the reception/honeymoon. I didn’t sleep that whole night, and until I got on the plane to fly home. I fell asleep before the people next to me had sat down and woke up as we were landing. I had so much fun there, and would love to go back another time. The trip also brought the cumulative days I have spent with Jenny over six, in six months.

On the Banks of the Nooksack

My cousin Zac and I have been trying to work out a time when we could go down to the river and ride motorcycles and quads together. Last night it rained and this afternoon was sunny, together they mixed to make perfect conditions down at the river. We loaded up the trailer and drove the two miles down there. They used to be able to drive through the farmer’s fields all the way down there, but this year they have not asked yet. The riverbanks are perfect for riding though. Much more interesting than the usual open horse field that we ride around in. We are really kind of in the flood zone. In the spring, when all the snow melts, the river floods and washes logs and stuff over these banks. As a result, every year is a little different down there and right now there is a big tree across one of our main trails. When the river gets low enough you can get across to some of the islands, and do more exploring. Today we mainly just cruised the regular trails. At times it just seems like you are cruising through the forest in South America or something. I took a bunch of pictures, most of Zac, some following behind as he rode down the trails.
